Ladies and Gentlemen!

Sponsored by Andrews Brothers Garden Supplies of East Chorlton,
and in conjunction with The Wilnot and Strain Pile Ointment Company ("Better In Than Out"),

we present:

The Andrews Brothers

The Andrews Brothers bring a little slice of Western Swing all way from Texas, USA - to Manchester,UK.

Ah - Western Swing - that sobbing heart of the dustbowl mixed up with the spicy stew of New Orleans Jazz, the wail of the Appalachians and the sentimental sob of Tin Pan Alley.

Recently signed to the mighty Lucky Strike label of Warm Springs, Belper - home of Doug Mellon and his Meltones, The Prairie Gophers, Barry Plimsoll's Fallen Arches and Norma Strange and her Whistling Elasticated G-Strings -

The Andrews Brothers play music that will have your heart yearning for those clear Western Skies and your gaiters swinging to the forbidden rhythms of the south.

This five piece combo of hep-cats will have you shaking your watoosi, jump jiving, doing the sh-boom and the eagle rock.

But flip the side and you'll be sobbing your heart out, clawing at clouds and shouting at the moon over the mountains.

Their set features classic covers of the latest sounds on 78 rpm, from Bob Wills (the king of all that is swing) "Who Walks In When I Walk Out?, to Milton Brown and his Musical Brownies classic "Easy Ridin' Papa" and Jimmy Revard and his Oklahoma Playboys seminal work "Oh Swing It!".

And there's more!!!!

These cats have composed their own songs too - and they feature in an ever-changing setlist.

The Andrews Brothers are:

  • on stand-up bass - Mr Steve "Chilli" Landin, the hottest bass this side of God's grace,
  • on guitar and mandolin - Mr Paul "Percy" Cowham, the jazziest cat in a 30 gallon hat,
  • Mr Bob "Stix" Dickinson on percussion and high lonesome vocals,
  • Mr Dave "Mystery Train" Pope on laptop steel, and
  • Mr Dominic "Count Em In" Macdonald on guitar and lead vocals.

This unit packs a punch in velvet gloves.

Catch them while you can.
